    10th Midwest Strategy Meeting, May 20-21, 2022

Call for Presenters, Discussants, & Participants

We are happy to announce a very special short notice call for Presenters, Discussants, and Participants for the long-awaited return of the Midwest Strategy Meeting (MSM)! The 10th occurrence of this high-quality Regional Strategy Research Conference and Doctoral Consortium will be hosted by the Purdue University Krannert School of Management and is Co-Sponsored by the Strategic Management (STR) Division of the Academy of Management (AOM). The conference & consortium will be held on the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette, Indiana, Friday and Saturday May 20-21, 2022.

    About MSM 2022:

The MSM is a forum for strategy scholars (Faculty and PhD Students) to interact and discuss cutting-edge, early-stage strategic management research. Some of the goals/objectives of the MSM are to:

    • Opportunity to present/discuss early stage (e.g., unpublished working paper) research by faculty.
    • Provide a forum for longer presentations with high quality developmental feedback from senior scholars.
    • Help scholars connect with the regional community of strategic management scholars.
    • Create an opportunity for Doctoral students to engage with prominent regional strategy scholars.

    Organization:

We are seeking faculty interested in presenting early stage research, senior faculty interested in serving as paper discussants to facilitate feedback, doctoral students interested in participating in the workshop, and attendees of any career stage interested in strategic management regional networking and collaboration opportunities. Available opportunities to attend and participate in MSM include:

    1) Presenters – scholars to submit a current unpublished working paper (or proposal) for presentation consideration.

    2) Discussants – scholars interested in serving as discussants and willing to offer constructive project-specific advice and facilitate discussion in a presentation session.

    3) PhD Consortium Participants – doctoral students interested in meeting and engaging with prominent senior strategy scholars through a half day Saturday afternoon workshop.

    4) Attendees – strategy scholars of any career stage to attend and participate in the research discussions and networking opportunities.

There is no fee to attend the conference or consortium. Purdue University and its Strategic Management program are generously covering the cost of the conference, meals, and social events, and AOM STR leadership representatives are volunteering their time and contribution to the conference program and consortium. Limited funding is also available to cover Friday night accommodations in thriving West Lafayette, Indiana for presenters, discussants, and consortium participants so please register early!

    Submission, Application, & Registration Guidelines:

We welcome submissions of working papers (or proposals of in process research) on any strategic management topic, theoretical perspective, and/or research method of interest to strategy scholars from authors interested in presenting their work. We also welcome volunteers willing to serve as discussants, PhD students interested in participating in the doctoral consortium, and strategy scholars interested in attending and networking at the MSM!
