This talk will introduce a new Prospective Practical Inquiry framework for entrepreneurship. It leverages co-creation and prospective theorizing to lay the ground for a new research space, which involves the collective exploration, generation, and evaluation of alternatives to the present, as (desired) theories for the future. Prospective theories can be envisioned, shared and experienced as the future unfolds, constituting the basis for new phenomena to be studied.  Prospective Practical Inquiry comprises three distinct research elements: defining mutually meaningful space, devising requisite interventions, and reflecting on emergent phenomena. This framework can expand our scope of action as entrepreneurship scholars, through new research efforts that operate in between and connect the tasks of retrospective theory-driven research (i.e., describe, explain, and predict) and the tasks of practice (i.e., inform, prescribe, and control). Our work re-frames the understanding of the research-practice gap in entrepreneurship to remove self-imposed boundaries, introduces prospective theorizing to the entrepreneurship research toolkit, opens new pathways to materialize the elusive "scholarly impact" and advances the conversation and practice of engaged scholarship.
