Saïd Business School and St. Hugh's College (University of Oxford) are recruiting an Associate Professor of Strategy to commence 1st January 2023 or at an earlier or later date by negotiation. This is a tenure-track position. In exceptional cases, where the candidate has previously established an academic standing at an appropriate level of distinction, the title of full professor may be awarded at the time of appointment.

Salary for the position is internationally competitive and commensurate with qualifications. A College housing allowance of £9,701 per annum is available to those living outside of the College.

The position will be within the Strategy Innovation and Marketing Area of the School, a lively and international community including scholars such as Marya Besharov, Tom Lawrence, Jan de Neve, Alex Nichols, Pinar Ozcan, Mari Sako, Andrew Stephen, Eero Vaara, Marc Ventresca and Richard Whittington. The Strategy group has a diverse research agenda but has a particular strength in practices and institutions (see https://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk/research/research-areas/strategy). It also works closely with other Areas within the School, for instance Organization Theory and Finance.

The School welcomes applications from established and early career colleagues in Strategy who are committed to a programme of intellectually rigorous and relevant management/organisational research that is publishable in top academic journals. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the School's graduate and executive programmes (in particular the MBA and Executive MBA) and as a Tutorial Fellow of St Hugh's to give tutorials (small-group classes) in the University's undergraduate programme.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in Strategy/Management Studies or a closely related area, with a track record, or a pipeline, of internationally excellent publications in top-ranked peer-reviewed academic journals, commensurate with the candidate's career stage. The candidate must have an outstanding programme or clear plan of research in Strategy which has the potential to have an impact on business and management practice and a track record of competitively awarded research grants commensurate with career stage. The successful applicant must demonstrate commitment to teaching and demonstrable ability to enthuse, educate and inspire high-achieving undergraduate and graduate students from all backgrounds and to help them reach their full potential. They must also demonstrate ability and willingness to work effectively as part of a team and to contribute fully to the work of the School. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary for undertaking teaching and the pastoral care of students and demonstrate ability and willingness to undertake a range of administrative duties both within the School and the College.
