Exploring Innovative Ways of Teaching Strategy
at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting

Drawing on the experiences of senior and emerging scholars, this Professional Development Workshop aims at contributing to the development and dissemination of innovative ways of teaching strategy by exploring the techniques and tools people use in their classroom. It consists of two parts:
PART 1: Presentations by keynote speakers (Russell Coff, Steven Floyd and Sotirios Paroutis) of their teaching experiences which is followed by a panel discussion (no pre-registration is required for PART 1 – it will run from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM).
PART 2: Hands-on exercises of innovative teaching techniques and approaches by experienced facilitators (pre-registration is required for PART 2 – you can register for up to two sessions which will last 30 minutes each – it will run from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM.
These two parts illustrate different ways of teaching strategy from the traditional, process and practice perspectives.
For part two, groups will be kept small (8 participants maximum), so please register early to avoid disappointment (to register, click here: http://aom.org/annualmeeting/registration/pdw/).
You can register to up to two of the following activities for the second part of the workshop. To get an approval code, please contact stephane.guerard@uzh.ch directly by indicating which of the following two activities you would like to attend.
1. Role-plays to teach strategy with Ellen R. Auster.
2. Simulation games with the manufacturer Cesim - Veijo Kyosti (for this activity you need a laptop and an internet connection).
3. Teaching strategy by using videos with Russell Coff.
4. Debates and Class splits to teach strategy with Kira Fabrizio.
5. Teaching strategy by using LEGO with Claus D Jacobs.
