Call for submissions for EGOS Sub-theme 44: "Making Sense of Uncertain Futures", Milan, July 2024
Organizations of all kinds face heightened sense of uncertainty. Pandemics, crises of mass displacement, and the climate change make the future feel unpredictable. To cope with uncertainties, individuals and organizations engage in sensemaking processes to form coherent narratives of 'what is going on' as well as 'what will happen?'. Sometimes such processes rely on data and algorithms to project likely futures, sometimes they engage in experimentation to enact a more predictable world.
Our hybrid sub-theme, "Making Sense of Uncertain Futures," invites submissions that draw on sensemaking perspectives to help understand how individuals and organizations cope with uncertainty. We are open to diverse methods including ethnography, case studies, historical approaches, and even experiments.
