Overview:
This year, our fourth bi-annual PDW on practice-driven institutionalism (PDI) brings a new focus on "New Practice Emergence." Bringing together a group of well-established scholars in institutional, practice, and emotions theories, our PDW aims to facilitate discussions about future directions for practice emergence. We focus on how the intersection of these theoretical perspectives can offer unique insights into the study of where new practices come from: how they take shape, become institutionalized, and evolve. Specifically, we aim to develop a forward-looking agenda around the constitutive, often emotional, processes between novel practices and institutional dynamics. We enrich the conversation on practice-driven institutionalism by introducing fresh perspectives, particularly on the underexplored yet critical role of emotions in practices. This PDW synthesizes some of the current thinking on practice-driven institutionalism, discusses unanswered questions and future directions regarding novel practice emergence, and highlights opportunities for innovative scholarly collaboration across different approaches and perspectives through panel and roundtable discussions.
Structure:
Panel Presentations; Q&A; Roundtable Discussions.
All are welcome to attend. No pre-registration required.
