Join us for Sub-theme 38: "Open Strategy – Exploring Different Contexts, Actors, and Domains" at the 42nd EGOS Colloquium on July 9–11, 2026!
We warmly invite you to submit your short papers by Tuesday, January 7, 2026, at 12:00 CET. You can find more information about our Sub-theme on the EGOS website.
What this sub-theme is about:
Open Strategy has grown into a vibrant research field that challenges and expands traditional strategy thinking. This sub-theme explores how openness manifests across:
- Contexts: Uncovering how openness unfolds in different geographical, cultural, and industrial settings.
- Actors: Examining how diverse human and non-human participants (like AI and digital tools) shape Open Strategy processes.
- Domains: Investigating how Open Strategy can address grand challenges such as climate change, inequality, and social justice.
Who should submit?
We welcome contributions from across and beyond the Open Strategy community - including scholars working on Strategy as Practice, Open Innovation, Open Organizing, Digital Transformation, and related domains. Conceptual, methodological, and empirical papers are all encouraged.
Conveners:
David Seidl, University of Zurich
Robin Engelbach, University of Zurich
Winky Wu, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford
+ Opening keynote by Richard Whittington on "Open Strategy: What's next?"
We are very much looking forward to engaging discussions, inspiring ideas, welcoming new people with fresh perspectives, and reconnecting with the wider Open Strategy community!
