PDW: Theorizing Temporal Patterns Through Paths (Sponsors: SAP & OMT)

This PDW explores the concept of temporal patterns as recurring sequences of events, activities, and behaviors in organizations that shape how time is organized and experienced. The session brings together different perspectives to build understanding and point to future research directions, with a particular focus on the antecedents and consequences of temporal patterns.

In this PDW, we will look at the different ways temporal patterns have been understood so far, and the different assumptions behind how they emerge, develop, and change. By bringing together leading scholars, the session will cover recent advances in theory, discuss how these ideas apply to real organizational settings, and support new collaborations for future research.

Using a flexible "present, discuss, and feedback" format, the workshop aims to create an open space for scholars to engage with the concept, share methods, and explore new research ideas. In the second half of the workshop, participants can discuss their own work-in-progress projects with the panelists of their choice. No preregistration is needed. Participants are encouraged to prepare a short 2–3 minute presentation of their work, with one slide or one page as support. We hope to facilitate constructive conversations and build a community around this topic.
