Here are speakers and session titles for the upcoming STR Virtual Symposium on doing Impactful and Relevant Research at 15.00-16.15 Eastern Standard Time on Monday 18 March. SAP members extremely welcome too!
Business School leaders, students and funders increasingly demand research that is clearly relevant to practice and policy. Relevance matters to us as well, so long as we can combine it with appropriate rigour. This virtual symposium will bring together four leading scholars who have consistently pulled off this double challenge of rigour and relevance, together with a discerning and engaged representative of practice. The focus will be on practical guidance how to do impactful and relevant research.
Speakers and their session titles are as follows:
Julian Birkinshaw (London Business School): In search of impact: how to do management research that rises above the noise
Rudi Durand (HEC Paris): Practitioners as ordinary theorists
Paula Jarzabkowski (University of Queensland): When Co-creating is Contentious: Recognising Impactful Questions
Joe Mahoney (University of Illinois): Connecting Rigorous Research and Relevant Practice
Martin Reeves (Henderson Institute, Boston Consulting Group): Having it all: breaking imagined trade-offs between rigor, relevance, timeliness and appeal
Chair: Richard Whittington (University of Oxford).
The session will allow time for some Q&A and encourage interactions via Zoom chat.
